Machine data publishing rules
A machine passport is only worth something if it can be trusted. These rules set out what is shown, with which label and at whose choice.
1. Default: private
- Every passport is private once registered. Nothing becomes public without the owner's action.
2. Three ways to share
- Private: only the owner and the Machinameh administrator. Scanning the QR shows only the validity seal.
- Temporary link: the owner creates a link for 3, 7 or 30 days, sees the view count and can revoke it at any time. The link is never shown in search engines.
- Public: the owner can make the whole passport public; it can then be seen by scanning the QR or searching the ID.
3. Three credibility levels
- Owner-declared: information the owner entered that has not yet been checked.
- Documented and verified: information matched against evidence such as an invoice or the manufacturer's plate.
- Expert-inspected: information a Machinameh inspector checked and recorded on site.
4. What is never public
- The owner's contact details, costs, invoices and the internal technical file, except any part the owner chooses to publish.
5. Amendments, not edits
- Recorded history is never erased or rewritten. If an error is found, an amendment with its date, reason and author is added to the history.
6. Incorrect information
- Machinameh may withdraw from public view any information that is incorrect, misleading or belongs to another machine, and records this in the history.
7. Inspector's name
- The name of the inspector who carried out the visit is shown on the public passport, so responsibility for the report is clear.
