Did you know that the hydraulic pump of an older machine runs at full speed even while the machine waits for the part to cool?

30–60%typical electricity savings with a servo pump versus a fixed-speed pump

The excess energy in these machines passes through the relief valve and turns into heat: you pay once for the electricity and again to cool the oil.

With a fixed-speed pump the motor always runs at full speed and surplus flow returns through the relief valve. The result: high power use, hot oil, a heavy load on the cooler and shorter seal life.

In a servo system the pump speed follows exactly what each phase needs and almost stops during cooling. Real savings depend on the part and the share of cooling time; the longer the cycle, the bigger the saving.

Before deciding on a retrofit, measure that machine's actual consumption with a meter and calculate payback with your own tariff and working hours, not the catalogue figure.

This article is general guidance. The figures depend on each plant's conditions; for decisions, measurements on your own line are what count.
